Mitchell Building 207 E. Michigan St. Built: 1876

Alexander Mitchell was a successful banker, and railroad/lumber businessman. His grandson was Billy Mitchell, after whom Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport is named. Alexander Mitchell's home later became the Wisconsin Club.

Grain Exchange Building 225 E. Michigan St. Built: 1879

Often called the Mackie Building, or the Chamber of Commerce Building, it once housed the world's largest grain exchange. Alexander Mitchell built both this and the neighboring Mitchell Building. Both were designed by Edward Townsend Mix.
