| Description |
English: Midland Bank Aston Cross 40-11-02 I worked for Midland Bank HSBC for 32 years and spent all but the last two in Birmingham Branches. I am photographing all the branches,or what's left of them, as they were when I joined Midland Bank in 1963. The branches all start with the sorting code 40-11.
This is the 3, Lichfield Road, Aston site now, as occupied by Midland Bank in 1963. The sorting code was 40-11-02. Directly opposite were the HP Sauce factory (now an empty building site) and Ansells Brewery (now a car showroom) When they were both in full production the aroma produced the local bit of rhyme:- "Ansells ales and HP soss makes all the smells on Aston Cross" |
