Summary[edit]

Description The USCGC Mackinaw is the retired Great Lakes Ice Breaker that served as a heavy ice breaker for 60 years. It is now a museum and is moored in Mackinaw City, MI. As you can see from this angle, some of the paint is in rough shape. Never fear! The vessel is being painted this spring/summer. They started on the starboard side and you can see in this shot the new paint versus the old paint. They had to pause for a bit because of the huge hatching of midges that were getting everywhere.
