Summary[edit]

Description
English:
Men extracting eggs from female fish at spawning station, California, ca.1910
Photograph of men extracting eggs from female fish at spawning station, California, ca.1910. One man holds the fish by the mouth while another man massages (or squeezes?) the fish's stomach to make it release the eggs. At left, a man uses a large net to catch and prepare the next fish for the men to extract eggs from. Another man stands at right watching the fish extracting process. The men use tin(?) pans to hold the fish eggs. Tin pans line the shelf of the small wooden spawning station. The station, built near the river (or lake?) allows easy access to the fish (trout?). Trees are visible on the other side of the river.
