Transcription: Of all Egypt it was the custom to send mummies here to rest a period of time and receive the blessings of Osiris. It was then carried to its ancestral burial ground- the mummy wrapt in embroidered linen was brought here on board a boat. We know nothing of what happened after the arrival of the mummy in peace at Abydos. "Probably the body assisted in the offereings to the God for when the deceased had returned in peace from Abydos he boasted that he had breathed the breath of myrh, and inscense"- Ebers thinks that the earliest Asiatic imigrants settled here. Near here was the capital of Menes Ist historical king of Egypt. B.C. 5867. 23.20.
