29.6.1983 Erinnerungen an die erste deutsche Motorfliegerin Melli Beese (1886-1925) aus Dresden widmete sich nach einem Bildhauerstudium in Stockholm ab 1910 mehr und mehr der Fliegerei. Nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten bei mehreren Fluggesellschaften, die sie als Pilotin ablehnten, weil Frauen "ungeeignet" seien, kam sie schließlich für hohes Schulgeld bei der "Deutschen Wright-Gesellschaft" unter. Am 27. Juli 1911 startete sie als einzige Pilotin unter 115 Fliegern in Deutschland zu einem Alleinflug mit einer "Rumpler-Taube". Im September 1911 stellte sie mit 825 Meter einen neuen Höhen-Passagier-Weltrekord für weibliche Piloten auf. Bald darauf gehörte ihr auch der Dauerweltrekord mit Passagier für Frauen. Bei der Herbstflugwoche 1911 in Johannisthal (Berlin) belegte sie unter 24 Teilnehmern aus verschiedenen Ländern den fünften Platz.

Sie heiratete den bekannten französischen Piloten Charles Boutard. Mit Beginn des I. Weltkrieges wurde ihr die Flugerlaubnis entzogen und ihr Mann verhaftet. Vor dem Weihnachtsfest 1925 schied sie aus dem Leben.
