English: Melksham Gate and weir A view looking to the northeast, upstream along the River Avon towards the Melksham flood control gate and the adjacent weir. This structure is planned to be relocated downstream as part of the restoration of the Wilts. and Berks. canal restoration, which will use this part of the river, as the original course of the canal through the town has been lost to building development. |
