Description
English: Stock certificate of the Medway Steam Packet Company for £2, issued on 20 June 1838. The shipping company, founded in 1837, It operated between Chatham at the river Medway in Kent and Sheerness on the island Sheppey at the northern coast of Kent. One of the company's paddle steamers sailed from England to the West Indies, calling at New York, Savannah, Nassau and Bermuda.
Deutsch: Aktie der Medway Steam Packet Company über 2 £, ausgestellt am 20. Juni 1838. Die 1837 gegründete Reederei betrieb Schiffsdienste zwischen Chatham, am Fluß Medway in Kent und Sheerness auf der Insel Sheppey, an der nördlichen Küste von Kent. Ein Raddampfer der Gesellschaft befuhr von England aus die Westindischen Inseln, legte in New York, Savannah, Nassau und Bermuda an.
