Summary[edit]

Description
English: After reaching peaks of 29°C in July, the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) in the western Mediterranean is decreasing. According to Copernicus Marine Environment Service data, the SST was around 27°C along the coasts of France and Italy on 28 August. Although this figure is about 2°C lower than in July, it is still very high. In fact, as this image shows, a positive SST Anomaly above 2.5°C is still measured throughout the western Mediterranean basin, with peaks of 4°C in the marine area between Corsica, Liguria and the Côte d'Azur (French Riviera). The Copernicus Marine Service portfolio includes 173 products produced through the combination of in situ ocean observations, remote sensing satellite imagery provided by Copernicus Sentinels and Contributing Missions, and ocean forecast models run daily, some of them every four hours.
