Title
Medieval to post-medieval : Spur
Description
English: An incomplete cast iron spur fragment of medieval to post-medieval date. The fragment consists of the neck and sides of the spur, though all are broken with worn breaks. The rowel, rowel box and terminals of the spur no longer survive. The neck is oval in section with a slight indented central rib on the reverse. The neck attaches to the spur proper where the two sides meet. The arms curve away from the neck and are D-shaped in section. The metal is a mid reddish-brown colour and is very worn. The spur is 56.6mm long, 30.3mm wide, 7.9mm thick and weighs 14.9g.
