Medieval copper alloy gilded buckle
Description
English: Medieval copper alloy buckle, 37mm long, 16mm wide and 3mm thick. The buckle is in fair condition and weighs 3.21grams. The loop is oval in form with a sub rectangular section, the pin is missing. The loop is attached to a rectangular shaped plate which has two copper alloy rivets and possibly a third iron one in a row down its centre. There is a patch of thick gilding near to the central one. The buckle matches eg 186, p33 in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800.
