Title
Medieval copper alloy buckle
Description
English: Incomplete copper alloy Medieval or Post Medieval double loop buckle with central bar. It has two sub-oval loops, the outer side of which is slightly thickened. The remains of the pin survive wrapped around the central bar. The surface is highly pitted and corroded.

Numerous double loop buckle with central bars have been recorded from excavations in London (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 88, fig.54) from late Medieval contexts and from Norwich (Margeson 1993, fig.16-17), all from 17th and 18th century contexts, suggesting a long chronology for the type.

Length: 23.0mm, width: 19.0mm, thickness: 2.0mm, weight: 2.40g
