Description
English: A double looped oval shaped buckle made from cast copper. In plan, the buckle is an oval. The loops are undecorated, but the outer edge is obliquely angled. On one loop there is a single notch. The reverse is undecorated the surfaces of the loop are obliquely angled. The strap bar is narrowed, and is semi-circular in section. The pin is missing. The buckle loops has traces of a mid green patina and traces of a white metal alloy coating. The buckle measures 27.06mm long and 21.41mm wide. It weighs 3.6g. Egan and Pritchard (2002 Dress Accessories Boydell Press) date a similar buckle (No. 380) to the late 13th to late 14th century.
