Medieval Sword fitting: Scabbard Chape
Description
English: A cast copper alloy scabbard chape, in two pieces. The chape has a moulded scallop shell design with a knob projecting from the base. There is a panel of raised diagonal ropework design above the shell. The reverse plate of the chape is missing. This design dates to around the late 15th to 16th century.
