Nederlands: Het Caputsteen, een kasteeltje in Mechelen, België.
Het is het voormalig buitengoed van de familie Hooft, alias Caput, dat reeds in een akte van 1348 wordt vermeld. Wellicht aan het einde van de 16de eeuw werd het gesloopt en vermoedelijk op dezelfde plaats, in 1641 heropgebouwd. Circa 1860 werd het bestaande 17de-eeuwse kasteel aan noord- en westzijde een weinig vergroot en in neotraditonele stijl "gerestaureerd"; de vergrotingswerken die het kasteel zijn huidig volume en uitzicht gaven dateren van 1908 en werden uitgevoerd naar ontwerp van architect C. Van den Bergh, in opdracht van brouwer Léon Van Diepenbeeck. English: The Caputsteen, a little castle in mechelen, Flanders, Belgium.
The building dates back to the seventeenth century, although an earlier building can be attested to. The castle was restored in the nineteenth century. |
