Summary[edit]

Description
English: bus (reg. NDW 406X), a 1982 Volvo Ailsa B55 double-decker with Northern Counties bodywork, pictured at the 2008 Meadowhall bus rally in Sheffield.

It was new to Cardiff Bus as their fleet no. 406, part of their intake of 36 new Ailsas taken in 3 batches over the period March 1982 to February 1984, all with Northern Counties bodywork, numbered 401 to 436.

Cardiff Bus were the last significant user of Ailsa's, and 406 was in service with them until 2007 which was the last year of operation of the type in the city. 406 then moved to McEwens, who presumably use it for school contracts.
