We spent one week in Ivrea, a smal city where the Aosta Valley flows into the Po Valley. One of our plans was to take mountain photos by moonlight. But it was a very cloudy week. We made daytrips to Milano and Turin (Museo Nazionale del Cinema – very recommended!) and discovered the local environment. But then we had this one night. The wether report forecasts a clear sky in higher regions. So we stepped into our car, despite a cloudy sky above Ivrea and drove into the Aosta Valley. We took the branch-off into Valtournenche and broke through the cloud cover. The moon enlightened the snowy landscape. By arriving Breuil-Cervinia at the foot of the Matterhorn, we were shocked about the horrible light pollution. It’s a touristic stronghold and it was peak season. We found a place to make some pictures like this one, but it felt a little bit disappointing: Only pictures of the peak, no landscape possible without touristic disfigurements. But on the way back, only a few curves away from Breuil-Cervinia, we made a shortly determined stop and got a <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/92417107@N04/27656443838/">very fine view ...</a> |
