CABAZON. from this great extinct volcano, covering all the sedimentary rocks inits vicinity. In the open valley of the Puerco stand many pictur-esque trap buttes having a general resemblance to the needles of theSan Juan. Of these the most conspicuous, called by the MexicansCabazon, resembles in its outline a Spanish sombrero, but is ofgigantic dimensions, being at least fifteen hundred feet in height. The reader must bear in mind, as he examines the illustration, thegreat height of this butte. At least fifteen hundred feet!
