Summary[edit]
| Description | The Marree Hotel, Marree, South Australia (formerly the Great Northern Hotel), is a prominent building in the main street. As the only two-storey building in the town it is a very dominant element. Because of its age (pre-dating the arrival of the Central Australia Railway in 1884) and nature, it is one of the most significant buildings in Marree since contemporaneous buildings built by the South Australian Railways were demolished many years ago. The hotel reflects the essential nature of Marree: that of an important railhead and means of entry to the remote interior. |
