Description
English: PFC Emilio Franchella takes a sample of fuel while it is being transferred from a KC-130J Hercules aircraft to a fuel bladder at Tinian’s West Field Dec. 3 during Exercise Forager Fury 2012. After a sample is received, it is taken to the expeditionary airfield lab to be tested on the amount of water and sediment, the specific gravity (density), the flash point, and amount of fuel system icing inhibitor it contains. The tests are important because the fuel will be redistributed to aircraft as they fly into the expeditionary fuel point here throughout the exercise. Franchella is a Bulk Fuel Specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
