Summary[edit]

Description Lance Cpl. Jess Wade, a combat engineer with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, ties detonation cord together, preparing to ignite 180 half-pound sticks of dynamite, July 18. Wade and his fellow combat engineers used the dynamite to break apart a six-foot thick bed of rock impeding their progress on a runway construction project. MWSS-274 is building a runway here capable of handling KC-130 cargo aircraft.
