Summary[edit]

Description Marble bust of a woman, 140-160 AD, Shahhat, Cyrene in Roman times. This is a portrait of a young woman of the elite of Cyrene, in present-day Libya. Her hairstyle, the bun in the shape of a cone, was in vogue during the time of Faustina the Elder, the wife of Emperor Antoninus Pious (138-161 AD). From the British Museum, inv. 1861,1127.17. Picture taken at the Oog in oog met de Romeinen (Eye to Eye with the Romans) Exhibition in the Gallo-Romeins Museum of Tongres.
