piece of wickedness andto prevent such villainous practices for the future, and in order for adiscovery not only of the author, but the accomplices concerned inthe conserting and contriving the said letter, so as he, or they, maybe brought to condign punishment : I have therefore thought fit,with the advice of His Majestys Council of this Piovince, to issuethis proclamation, hereby promising a reward of Fifty Pounds, cur-rent money of this colony, to any person or persons who shall makediscovery of the author of the before-mentioned letter, and of anyaccomplice or accomplices which were concerned in framing, consert-ing and contriving the same, or of either of them, to be paid to suchperson or persons who were the authors of or accomplices concernedin the framing and contriving thereof. And as a further encouragement to a detection and discovery of soflagitious and heinous a crime as by the before-mentioned letter wasdesigned, I do hereby promise the like reward of Fifty Pounds to any

701 one of the accomplices concerned in the conserting, writing, framingor designing the said letter, or that were in any way privy, aiding, orassisting thereto, who shall make discovery of the author of the saidletter, to be paid to such accomplice or accomplices upon the convic-tion of such author. And I do hereby also promise to such accom-plice or accamplices, who shall make such discovery, as a further en-couragement to incline them to a discovery and conviction of suchauthor, as aforesaid, a full and free pardon for the offence by them,any or either of them, thereby done, committed and perpetrated, orby them being any ways privy, consenting, aiding or assistingthereto.
