Henrietta Anne Stuart ‘d’ Angleterre, Duchesse d’Orléans, oil on canvas in the manner of Jean-Charles Nocret, Charles X period c1815-1830. This portrait dates from the ‘Restauration’ period of the French monarchy after the fall of Napoleon I during a revival of claims and interests in lineage of the Ancient Régime. Henrietta was pivotal in a series of claims to one of the Jacobite lines of succession. This image relates to a series of portraits of Henrietta by Jean-Charles Nocret and his son.
