Description

Male House Finch (Carpodacus mexicanus).
Shot on my lunch break one sunny March afternoon in the backyard (Atlanta GA). This vegetarian bird is strongly attracted to feeders, where they prefer small sunflower seeds. (There is a birdfeeder full of sunflower seeds near this tree).

Some think that this bird came to the Eastern United States after a 1940s release of caged birds by pet shop owners on Long Island, New York
