DescriptionMaj lodge locher F4D.jpg |
English: Maj. Robert Lodge and Maj. Roger Locher in the cockpit of their F-4D Phantom II jet, seen earlier in 1972. The team had shot down two MiGs when they clashed with MiG-21s and Shenyang J-6 (Chinese MiG-19s) jets on the morning of 10 May 1972 and were shot down. Lodge decided not to eject and was killed. Locher was recovered 23 days later in the deepest search and rescue operation inside North Vietnam. |
