केशरी - महाराष्ट्रीयत्वाचा रंग. पांढरा - समता व न्यायाचा रंग.

तांबड्या रंगातील महाराष्ट्रमुद्रा - शिवमुद्रेप्रमाणे अष्टकोनी मुद्राकार, ’म’कार ’मराठी’ व ’महाराष्ट्र’ यांचे एकात्मिक प्रतीक; तांबडा रंग - महाराष्ट्रस्थापनेमागील हौतात्म्याचा, बलिदानाचा रंग.
English: Flag of Marathi language movement, symbolising Maharashtra and Marathi linguistic nationality.

Saffron Orange - signifies Marathi-ism. White - signifies Equality and Justice

Red coloured 'Maharashtra-Mudra' (emblem of Maharashtra) - Octagonal like the 'Shivamudra'. Devanagari alphabet 'म' is used as symbol for 'Marathi' & 'Maharashtra'; Red colour signifies the martyrdom of those who died for the Samyukta Maharashtra movement.
