Deutsch: Magnetelektrische Maschine M1 mit Trommelanker (Gleichstrommaschine)

Diese Maschinen dienten meist zu Vorführzwecken und zum Experimentieren als Ersatz für galvanische Elemente. Die Spannung betrug etwa 15 V. Beim Ringanker werden nur die äußeren Drähte des Ringes vom Magnetfeld beeinflusst, die inneren bedeuten nur einen zusätzlichen Widerstand, also einen Verlust. 1872 gelang es v. Hefner-Alteneck, diesen Übelstand mit dem Trommelanker zu vermeiden. Wie beim Ringanker entsteht auch hier ein „stetiger Gleichstrom, der umso gleichmäßiger ist, je weiter Wicklung und Kollektor unterteilt sind. Der Trommelanker ist der heute gebräuchlichste Anker für elektrische Maschinen.
