No tempo de D. Luiz de Almeida Portugal Soares d’Eça Mello Silva Mascarenhas, quarto marquês de Avintes, segundo de Lavradio e terceiro Vice-Rei, construiu-se na antiga rua, outrora cais e boqueirão da Glória, hoje Rua da Lapa [Glória], um chafariz, junto à encosta do morro do Desterro, hoje Santa Tereza, denominado “Chafariz do Caminho da Glória”.
