English: Mackershaw Gate & Lodges Gateway and flanking lodges, now ruined. Built circa 1740 for John Aislabie. Limestone rubble and ashlar. Archway flanked by projecting single storey two-bay lodges. The lodges were occupied until circa 1970. They were originally built as eyecatchers and as accommodation for Park workers.
They are currently undergoing consolidation work. |
