Summary
[edit]DescriptionMacGillycuddy's Reeks, The Zig-Zags Track - geograph.org.uk - 1561724.jpg |
English: MacGillycuddy's Reeks: The Zig-Zags Track Photo taken at Map Ref. V81395 84075 Elevation 534 metres (1752 feet) This narrow track ascends up the flank of the area left of the Devil's Ladder, is one of the safer ascent or descent to Carrauntoohil Summit. 1041 metres (3415 feet) This route was used by locals to take up the cross to the summit, but is not popular because it is hard to find. The base of the path should be able to be picked up at Map Ref. V81122 84082. The narrow track rises over the grass to the East and changes into a series of zig-zags to the south and southwest, eventually takes a long sweep towards the southeast. As seen in the photo, some rocks are painted yellow. The top of the track is at Map Ref. V81395 83455, elevation 827 metres (2713 feet) A good book to buy when walking in the Reeks is: Carrauntoohil & MacGillycuddy's Reeks. (A walking Guide to Ireland's Highest Mountains by Jim Ryan) |
