| Description |
English: Looking south at the Long Island Expressway (I-495) crossing over Woodhaven Boulevard in Elmhurst, Queens. Most of the LIE replaced Horace Harding Boulevard, which ended at Queens Boulevard north of here. The current highway at this location was built on a new right-of-way in the 1950s, to connect the Horace Harding portion to the portion of the highway which replaced Borden Avenue in Maspeth near the Midtown Tunnel. A baseball field of the adjacent Hoffman Park was destroyed in order to create the interchange ramps to the right of this bridge. Take a look. |
