Summary[edit]
DescriptionMBV-2 Armoured Train - Patriot Museum, Kubinka (37598802605) (cropped).jpg |
Built:- 1938 Manufacturer:- Kirov Plant, Leningrad Total Production:- 2 Main Armament:- Initially 2No 76.2mm KT-28 cannons in T-28 tank turrets. This was later upgraded to a pair of L-11 / F-34 guns from T-34 Medium tanks, also 76.2mm. The MBV-2 trains were generally deployed as ranged fire support weapons or as deterrents along key fronts. Their firepower was capable of stopping any light or medium-armoured German tanks throughout the war, making them a credible threat. Although the extensive Soviet rail network meant that they were not particularly restricted on location, the amount of armament, armour and ammunition made them extremely heavy which meant careful planning to avoid lighter routes. They could also serve in the static defence role if required. Saved for preservation after WW2, it is now on display in Area 1 of the Patriot Museum Complex. Park Patriot, Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia. 25th August 2017 |
