(b. 1472, Kronach, d. 1553, Weimar) The Martyrdom of St Catherine 1504-05 Oil and tempera on limewood, 112 x 95 cm Collection of the Reformed Church, Budapest The painting was executed after <A onclick="return OpenOther('/html/d/durer/2/12/1_1500/10cather.html')" HREF="/html/d/durer/2/12/1_1500/10cather.html">Dürer's engraving</A> of the same subject (in a mirrored composition) and it is closer to the style of Dürer than any other work by Cranach.
