Luling Mansion, New Orleans 1998

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Built in 1865, this Renaissance palazzo-style mansion once fronted on Esplanade Avenue, a street with many of the city's largest estates along the relatively high Esplanade Ridge. It became home to the Louisiana Jockey Club in 1871 after the Fairgrounds race track opened nearby. Eventually houses were built in front of it, leaving its only access via Leda Court, a side street. I think it may have been abandoned at the time I photographed it, but that is only my assumption. Today it is an apartment building.
