Het Nederlandse bedrijf Electric Cars Europe uit Lochem heeft een elektrische versie van de Lotus Elise ontwikkeld. Dutch company ‘Electric Cars Europe’ developed a Lotus Elise 111 R into an full electric vehicle. De motor is eruit gesloopt en op de vrijgekomen plek zijn accu’s geplaatst. Als je aangewezen bent op een normaal stopcontact met 16 ampère moet je rekenen op zo’n acht tot twaalf uur om de auto op te laden, met meer ampères daalt die tijd snel tot een minimum van zo’n drie uur.
