| Description | Lot 10625-17: Navy Day, October 27, 1945. As the sun lowers on the New Jersey shore, the powerful guns are silhouetted against dying light. Crew members line up on deck to watch President Harry S. Truman pass on his way back to shore onboard USS Renshaw (DD 499). Donated by Mr. Thomas J. Watson from a recording America’s tribute to its victorious fleet in first peacetime Navy Day since the start of World War Two. (7/17/2015). |
