A traditional style stone Shisa dog

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Shisa dog (usually in pairs placed in entrances) is a traditional Ryukyu method of warding off evil spirits. Because of the prevalence of Ryukyu culture in Okinawa, Shisa are a common site on/in houses, on bridges, on building, in front of stores and more. This one was featured in a traditional Ryukyu lantern festival in Okinawa.
