Description
English: Szentendre, Grave 29
  • Pest County, Hungary

These are goods from the undisturbed grave of a 20- to 30-year-old woman who was buried in a tree trunk coffin, clothed in her precious, typically Pannonian-Lombard garb, which included four fibulas (so-called Four Fibula Costume). The woman's jewellery included a hair pin as well as a necklace of glass beads. Two almandine disk fibulas held her upper garment together at the neck and bodice. Around her waist was a belt with an iron buckle. Suspended from the belt was a amulet hanger decorated with silver pin fibulas. In addition, the woman wore a pouch on which large colored beads were sewn. At her feet was a comb. An additional item in the grave was a ceramic vase with ribbed decoration.

  • Photographed while on display from 22 August 2008 to 11 January 2009 in the exhibition "Die Langobarden. Das Ende der Völkerwanderung" at the Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn. On loan from the Hungarian National Museum, Budapest.
Deutsch: Szentendre, Grab 29
  • Komitat Pest, Ungarn
