Notes

The thesis poster itself, printed on a very fine canvas (silk satin) rather than on paper, is mounted on the main canvas and with a trompe-l'œil gilded frame.

Thesis on "philosophy" (i.e. scholasticism and theology), defended in Louvain in 1695 by Joannes Franciscus de Vos, from Bruges. His positions printed in Latin (with the names of the dedicatee and his university), and placed under the invocation of the double of Bread and Wine, are set in a frame painted by de Deyster, which overflows by de Deyster, which in some places overflows the text of the thesis the text of the thesis itself and alludes to it on purpose (attributes of sciences and theology, the chalice and host of the Eucharist, etc.). An exceptional case of a thesis poster mounted in paint, the copy used here is the most precious of all, the "satin thesis" as it was called at the time. the "satin thesis" as it was known at the time: perhaps a memento

candidate or his family (Foucart).
