Mr. Thimblefinger, who had a keeneye for such things, noticed that they were begin-ning to get glum and dissatisfied, and so he said•with a lauorh : — o I ve often heard in my travels of childrenwho talked too much, but these dont talk at all. Oh, they 11 soon get over that, Mrs.Meadows remarked. Everything is so strangehere, they dont know what to make of it. WhenI was a little bit of a thing my ma used to takeme to quiltings, and I know it took me the long-est kind of a time to get used to the strangers andall. This is nt a quilting, said Sweetest Susan,with a sig;h: I wish it was. O I dont! exclaimed Buster John plumply. Once when I was listening through a key-hole, said Mr. Thimblefinger, placing his tinyknife and fork crosswise on his plate, I hearda story about a Talking-Saddle. Tell it! tell it! cried Buster John andSweetest Susan. I suppose you have no pie to-day ? saidBabbit.
