Summary[edit]
DescriptionLightning strike in Tampa Florida (modified).jpg |
This photograph is of a lightning strike in Tampa, Florida. Although it appears that the lightning bolt hit the building, it actually didn't. The sudden flash of light made the camera incorrectly capture the bolt to the extent that it looks like it hit the building on the side nearest the camera. I'm not sure if the lightning bolt actually struck the ground or if it instead struck a low cloud, since the bottom was blocked by the nearby building. I believe it probably did strike the ground, because I think the clouds that can be seen near the bottom of the bolt were much further away than they appear. This image was captured mostly by accident. Because the lightning bolts occured so fast, I could only blindly point and shoot in a direction without knowing if a lightning bolt would appear. After I took several hundred pictures with my digital camera using this method over a period of about two hours, this was the only image that came out. In this version of the file I have removed about half a dozen small lights from the apartment buildings' exterior. |
