Description

Life had taken them by surprise by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 80 x 100 cm

People live on the flow of daily reality, and they surf on the waves of hazy expectations. They may experience pleasant junctures and enjoy each significant moment. But it happens that life turns its back to them while a misfortune, a physical accident, or a mental emergency take them by surprise.

Like the unexpected assault on Pearl Harbor or the Twin Towers in New York that took a whole nation by surprise, individuals' lives can be disrupted, all of a sudden.

Unforeseen incidents can disorder our schedule at any time. For this reason, we may better be watchful and scout suspicious indications on life's road.

It may be wise to incorporate a minimum safety net in our minds. Our history is never wholly secured against corporal damage or emotional shortage. If we plan a safe roadmap with a possible fallback position, we may counter any unexpected occurrences if destiny has decided to strike hard.
