Description
Deutsch: 5: Othello - Siegreiche Landung des Othello auf Zypern.
Im Jahre 1887 ließ Verdi eine Oper »Othello« nach dem gleichnamigen Trauerspiele Shakespeares über die Bretter gehen. Sie wurde zum ersten Male in dem Teatro della Scala zu Mailand als fünfundzwanzigstes Bühnenwerk des Meisters mit ungeheurem Beifall aufgeführt. Unser Bildchen führt uns in den Anfang der Oper: Othello der Mohr, Anführer der venezianischen Streitkräfte, hat die Muselmänner besiegt und kehrt während eines heftigen Sturmes nach Zypern zurück, das er als Statthalter regiert und wo er von der Einwohnerschaft jubelnd empfangen wird.
