Deutsch: 2: Don Juan: »Ha, der Frevler, sterben soll er, Aber selbst bestraf' ich ihn!«
Im prächtigen Schlosse Don Juans zu Sevilla findet ein Ball statt, auf dem sowohl Landbewohner der Umgegend, als auch Edelleute erschienen, zum Teil maskiert. Der berühmte Chor »Hoch soll die Freiheit leben« (früher oft zu politischen Kundgebungen führend), gilt der Maskenfreiheit. Im Vordergrund links sieht man das Bauernmädchen Zerline nebst dem Verlobten, Masetto; dieser, eifersüchtig auf Don Juan, will nebst seinen Freunden gegen ihn tätlich werden, aber Don Juan lässt seinen getreuen Diener den Sündenbock spielen; dadurch entkommt er.
