First published in early form (essay, The Total Library) in early 1939 (http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2006/12/11/borges-manuscripts-lost-two-handwritten-short/) before being published as Library of Babel (short story) as part of the "The Garden of the Forking Paths" in 1941. |
