Description

Page 3 of a letter from Maurice Wilkins to Francis Crick regarding his 'model building'. Wilkins was the 'third man' behind the discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA with Crick and Jim Watson that was published in Nature in April 1953. Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin's work on x-ray crystallography of DNA strands(Photo B51) concluded their discovery.

He writes: 'When I saw Jim [Watson] last before Christmaas, he said you people couldn't build a model along your lines, if that is so it simplifies things a bit anyway I am pretty certain that the phosphates are on the outside...'
