Title
Leather shoe
Description
English: Leather shoe discovered concealed in an old cottage fireplace. The shoe is more accurately an ankle boot which has eight lace holes set four on either side of the rectangular tongue. At the back of the boot there are two opposing decorative swirls of stitches. The boot would fit an adult and shows clear signs of wear. Both the sole and the heel show evidence of repair in the form of new patches and iron tacks. The boot was discovered by workmen in a cavity in a fireplace wall as they were demolishing it. There have been reports that the house from which it came was once a cobblers shop, however this is yet to be proven by literary sources. The shoe was found in 1 Sleaford Road, Branston.
