Description

Vitrail de façade et coté droit de la maison-atelier conçue par l'architecte Mallet-Stevens

La maison-atelier du maître-verrier Louis Barillet (1880-1948) située 15 Square Vergennes Paris (15), métro Vaugirard.

Un vitrail monumental orne la façade. Il évoque les activités de l'atelier de Louis Barillet (vitrail et mosaïque) à travers trois villes aux traditions artistiques en relation avec son art.

La ville de Chartres, pour l’art du vitrail par l’évocation d’un souffleur de verre, la ville de Ravenne pour la mosaïque à travers une représentation de l’impératrice byzantine Théodora et la ville d'Athènes, représentée par la déesse Athéna pour rappeler les fondements de la culture occidentale.
