Sur le site du temple Hase-dera, fondé en 736 et consacré à Kannon, s'alignent des centaines de petites statuettes représentant des nouveau-nés disparus, Jizo, le bodhisattva protecteur des enfants, y est également vénéré. extrait de l'article de Wikipedia

Jizō est chargé de sauver les âmes des morts de la souffrance, de les secourir dans le monde des Enfers.
